The boring and disappointing answer to all these questions is no, I cannot. No one can. Not even Derren Brown ?. I would be a millionaire if I could.
Contrary to popular misconception, hypnosis is not a mysterious, dramatic mind-control or even mind-reading tool. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Individuals don't lose control or power in hypnosis. It's a myth.
When performed by qualified hypnotherapists, in therapy or coaching, hypnosis actually helps increase self-awareness, self-consciousness and.........wait for it…………….. empowerment! Simply because understanding the root cause of damaging beliefs/habits in hypnosis can be powerful and liberating.
Like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, hypnosis is an evidence-based technique that has been scrupulously tested by scientists all over the world. Nothing to do with the myth of individuals having mysterious superpowers to control others. That does not mean people cannot be influenced or even manipulated but this has nothing to do with hypnosis.
Another request I have is whether I can make people becoming fluent in a language they have hardly any knowledge of, generally English or Mandarin. This specific request only comes from France, and I honestly don't know why so if you know, please kindly enlighten me ?. I am sure you've guessed the answer... No one can do this. Not even Derren Brown*.
There are techniques to access our knowledge and we use them successfully with students nervous during their exams, or professionals nervous about presentations. However, if you have never learnt, spoken or heard a foreign language, no one can put the knowledge and fluency of it in your brain.
Myths about hypnosis can be funny like the famous Kaa scene in Disney's Jungle book, or rather scary, so all questions are welcome.
